Term: Miscellany
Set of documents originating from different series of the same archive or from different archives, sometimes relating to similar subjects, sometimes to heterogeneous subjects. A miscellany may have been formed for a variety of reasons, often linked to the archival history of the creating bodies. It may also have resulted from the inability of those responsible for the archives to return records to the series or archival holdings from which they originated.
