Working tool essential for the archivist in arranging the archival holdings, compiling the inventory and, subsequently, its indexes. The cards, on which the essential elements for identifying individual items are recorded, can easily be corrected and rearranged. This makes it possible to test different working hypotheses without physically moving the documents, until there is a full understanding of the reasons for any relocation.
