Term: Transfer

Act by which a public body permanently deposits a body of records with a holding institution. After a specified period, State peripheral offices are required to transfer their records to the competent State Archives. The archives of abolished public bodies must likewise be transferred to these institutions, unless administrative requirements make their transfer to another body necessary.
